The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

On the list of best BookTok books, this first one is pretty high up there. It is unlikely that you’ve ever been on BookTok without seeing this book appear.

The story follows Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo as she retells her life to a young journalist, Monique Grant. Her rich, exciting, and sometimes sad life makes for an unforgettable read.

There are lots of twists and turns along the way too!

Best BookTok Books for Romance Lovers

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Who doesn’t love a romance novel? Arguably the only thing bigger in the BookTok world right now is author Colleen Hoover (affectionately named CoHo by fans).

Hoover’s stories really have taken the internet by storm, especially her novel It Ends With Us.

This follows the story of Lily living in Boston who sets up her own business and meets handsome neurosurgeon Ryle. But when her first love reappears in her life unexpectedly she has to figure out what it is she really wants.

It Ends With Us is an emotional rollercoaster, so buckle up for the ride!

It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover

If you’re already familiar with Lily and want to know what happened after It Ends with Us finished then you’ll be glad to know that author Colleen Hoover has given us the gift of a sequel.

The It Starts With Us release date was the 18th October which means that you can get your hands on the latest installment now. It explores life for Lily, Ryle and Atlas as they navigate the next chapter in their life. The It Starts With Us book is sure to take the BookTok world by storm so we recommend that you check it out.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

If you are looking at the best BookTok books that will make you cry then you’ve arrived at your destination. The Song of Achilles is a more serious BookTok recommendation but is not one to be missed.

Miller offers an adaption of Homer’s Iliad from the perspective of Patroclus set in the Greek Heroic Age. It has strong themes of love, ambition, and immortal fame and tells the story of the Trojan war as you would expect from Greek mythology, there is plenty of tragedy to go around.

But don’t worry, you don’t need to be a Greek mythology buff to read this!

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

If you’re a fan of Schitt’s-Creek then you’ll love this latest offering from Tessa Bailey. It Happened One Summer follows the story of Hollywood “It Girl” Piper Bellinger who is cut off from her wealthy family and finds herself in a small fishing village in Washington State.

The book then follows a kind of enemies-to-lovers trope when she meets (and butts heads) a sexy local who doesn’t think she belongs there.

It Happened One Summer is very much a city girl meets country boy sort of book but there is some spicy chemistry along the way.

Best BookTok Books for Thrillers

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

If you are more of a thriller/mystery kind of person then don’t worry as BookTok has plenty of recommendations worth the hype. The Silent Patient keeps you on your toes throughout and once you’ve started it, you can’t put it down.

The plot follows a psychotherapist who goes to work at a new facility and is keen to help a patient who hasn’t talked since she murdered her husband.

As the psychotherapist tries to treat and uncover the patient’s life something even more shocking is unearthed. Spoiler Alert – there is a plot twist you aren’t expecting.

In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead

Who doesn’t love a college reunion? Well, this one takes a dark and deadly turn as six friends and one unsolved murder starts to unravel. This suspense novel will keep you on the edge of your seat as decade-old dark secrets start to come out.

With dual timelines and a dark campus setting, prepare for a darker perspective of love, friendship, ambitions, and obsession. Although Jessica Miller left Duquette ten years ago, not everyone in the friendship group did and all these years later each of them will be forced to confront what actually happened that night.

Take our advice and cancel all your plans for the next few days, as once you’ve picked this book up you won’t be able to put it down. It’s definitely worth the hype!
