  Launched in 2011 by Gardners, the UK's leading book wholesaler, Hive was created to help keep independent bookshops on the high street. It launched with around 350 independent bookshops signed up and now supports a nationwide network of indies, each showcased on the site with their own page. Bookshops earn a minimum of 10% of net value on physical book orders, rising to 25% when store collection is chosen, and customers can use the site's bookshop finder to pick which local shop benefits from their order. Alongside books, the range spans DVDs, Blu-ray, music CDs and eBooks, plus vinyl and stationery.
